System hangs when creating a PivotTable...due to command not selected.
Cause:
Excel automatically starts 'Microsoft Query' when creating a PivotTable using external data. After the data is retrieved, the user must select the 'Return Data to Microsoft Excel' command on the 'File' menu. If the command is not selected, the computer appears to hang.
Solution:
Switch to Microsoft Query. Select the 'File' menu and select 'Return Data to Microsoft Excel'.
1) Switch to Microsoft Query by doing one of the following:
a) Press ALT+TAB repeatedly.
b) Press CTRL+ESC, select 'Microsoft Query' and click 'Switch To'.
2) Select the 'File' menu. (A submenu appears.)
3) Select 'Return Data to Microsoft Excel'.
